Cool Dad #1 – David BeckhamOf course, we have to kick things off with the man who is, without a doubt, one of the coolest dads the world has ever seen. Together with his fashion designer wife Victoria, Beckham is father to sons Brooklyn Joseph, Romeo James, Cruz David and daughter Harper Seven. Beckham couldn’t be any prouder of his life as a parent: “In my career there are many things I've won, and many things I've achieved, but for me my greatest achievement is my family. It's about being a good husband and an even better father,” says Beckham.
Cool Dad #2 – Liev Schreiber
Actor. Producer. Director. Writer. Dad. Liev Schreiber, along with partner Naomi Watts, manages to have it all. Schrieber had not always planned on becoming a father, but now says he can’t imagine being anything else. “The minute they show up and you hear that first scream, it’s a pretty profound feeling. You know that you’re in for it. You’re in for the best thing that ever happened to you and the hardest work you’ll ever do,” says Schrieber. He and Watts are parents to Alexander ‘Sasha’ Pete and Samuel Kai, but said they would try for a third child if they could guarantee a baby girl. Good luck with that, Liev!
Cool Dad #3 – Gavin Rossdale
It doesn’t get much cooler than having a rockstar for a dad. The English musician and actor, best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Bush, is father to Kingston James McGregor Rossdale and Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale with fellow rockstar Gwen Stefani. A 2004 paternity test revealed he’s also the father of Daisy Lowe, the result of a brief relationship with singer-songwriter and fashion designer Pearl Lowe. Says Rossdale, “Becoming a father was so natural, you just fall into it and find your way. It's terrifying, exciting and brilliant."
Cool Dad #4 – Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman’s road to fatherhood was not an easy one with wife Deborra-Lee Furness. They had two miscarriages before deciding to adopt Oscar Maximillian and Ava Eliot. He’s called the experience a painful one, but now couldn’t be happier with the changed direction his life has taken. “The moment Oscar arrived, it just felt like he was always meant to be ours. I forget he’s adopted. He’s just my son!” says Jackman. “Becoming a father inevitably changes your perspective on life. We don’t get nearly enough sleep but the simplest things are completely satisfying,” admits Jackman.
Cool Dad #5 – Matthew McConaughey
Not only is Matthew McConaughey a talented actor and People Magazine’s 2005 Sexiest Man Alive, he is also a doting dad. McConaughey calls fatherhood “a wild, wonderful adventure.” Together with Brazilian model Camila Alves, they have three children: Levi, Vida, and Livingston. McConaughey says that fatherhood has made him a better actor, because his children remind him to ‘play make believe every day,’ and though he’s proud of his films, he says his kids are his most rewarding production.
